MASJID ul madni
Masjid Ul Madni fully explores the potential of small plots and their use as community spaces. A mosque for the local community in Aston, Masjid Ul Madni utilises the limited space of an existing house and caters to the hundreds of worshippers who attend. The frontage announces itself to the street, acting as a beacon to the community who come to use the facilities.
The project added an extension to allow for a new floor, and rearranged the internal layout to allow for a more user friendly internal space, as well as extending the ground floor into the garden to accommodating growing numbers of people wanting to use the space.
Plenty of light is also brought inside, with the main prayer hall brightly lit with recessed lighting in the ceiling and bespoke screen-columns which illuminate the space, making for an warm and bright area especially during the evening prayers and winter months. Turning on these lights during the month of Ramadhan is a way for the mosque to invoke a sense of celebration into the space.
